Program Overview
The Guaranteed Clean Energy initiative is a sponsored program (funding from Federal, State of Ohio, and local energy incentives) taking the initiative to create a more energy efficient infrastructure across the entire state of Ohio. The focus is to help and give incentive for large users of energy such as; school systems, industrial, warehouses, office buildings, and other large facilities across the state to invest in their buildings' energy efficiency.
It allows Ohioans the opportunity to feel the results of energy savings and receive the benefits first, by using state energy funds to pay for projects 100%, instead of having to come out of their own pocket. Creating a cleaner Ohio and making Ohio great place to start an organization, own a business, and operate with the support of our great state.
The Guaranteed Clean Energy (GCE) initiative functions as an incentive mechanism by funding 100% of the up-front cost of energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements for properties in Ohio.
The focus is to invest capital into buildings with an end result being:
1. Holistically upgrade energy equipment at a facility without any up-front costs
2. Receive energy savings without an upfront costs
3. Pay back loans over long terms (10-20yrs) that create a positive cash flow for everyone
Essentially, by focusing and investing in energy efficiency, the GCE incentives create a WIN, WIN, WIN, scenario for building owners, workers, tax payers, and clean energy. GCE funding is available for energy saving projects with the main rule that they "prove cash flow positive" over a set time period including: lighting, HVAC, sensors, motors, pumps, building automation, insulation, windows, etc.
The initiative pays for 100% of the project with no up-front cash payment* and GUARANTEES a positive financial return immediately. Property owners that participate in the GCE program repay their improvement costs over a set time period—typically 15 to 20 years. The project is secured by the guaranteed energy savings and paid as an addition to the owners’ property tax bills. In every project, by design the building owner will receive upgrades and positive cash flow.
